Late last week I needed to head down to Huxley Motorsport to collect some parts and, as always, there was an array of interesting cars to take a look at in and around the workshop

Up front and centre was this Mk1 Escort that actually used to belong to Huxley almost ten years ago. Its current owner still entrusts Hux to perform upgrades and maintenance to it which is pretty cool.

Huxley Motorsport Stagea

Tucked down the side of the workshop was this Stagea. I didn’t get chance to ask about its history or the owner’s plans for the future but it looked like a great base to work with. I’d like to own one of these some day.

Hidden past the Stagea was this turquoise S14 that I’ve featured on the blog before. It’s changed hands since then and is now Huxley’s personal practice car, for those times when he wants to get on track for cheap and easy fun without having to drag his RA28 Celica competition car out. If you ever wonder why Hux (amongst a handful of others at the sharp end of the BDC) seems to be able to dive straight into a competition and instantly be comfortable, it’s because he makes time to drive as often as he can at drift events at venues varying from banger ovals to airfields and everything in between.

Huxley Motorsport S15

Among the many cars in the workshop, the Downside Drifters S15 was to be found lacking a number of its body panels. The owner Matt is known for his bravery and, subsequently, destruction, so this isn’t the first time his Silvia has been to Hux for damage repairs. This time round though, I’m assured that it wasn’t his fault that someone drove into the back of him at the last Drift Elite day.

Another car in for damage repair was Martin Wonnacott’s JZX100. Having endured a fairly heavy rear end impact at the previous weekend’s BDC round at Teesside, the car was dropped off at Hux’s workshop on Martin’s way back home from the event.

Rear end damage seemed to be a running theme as Jamie‘s S14 was also tucked in the corner of the unit, being straightened out after a woman drove into it one day when it was parked at the side of the road. After dealing with the various insurance niggles, the car is now being prepared to be reintroduced to the road. The bathtub laying next to it is unrelated.

Jamie is still resisting the urge to sell his monster WORK Equips, though. But hey, maybe if you were to pester him enough, he might consider letting them go.
