Last week I headed down to Huxley Motorsport near Worcester to pick up my freshly repaired URAS NS-01 wheel, along with a whole load of HM-Sports BMW E36 kits. As usual, Huxley’s workshop was a hive of activity, so I thought it’d be rude not to snap a few photos on my phone.

The JZZ30 Soarer on the trailer in the above picture is Huxley’s new practice car and the replacement for his 4-door E36 that he’s been using for the past couple of years. He’s got big plans for the 1JZ power plant and drivetrain but, for now, the car will be undergoing some simple styling “corrections” before hitting the track.

The 4-door R32 Skyline belongs to Rob Phillips and is the replacement for his recently sold BMW E30 that quickly became known as the E30 fitted with the (heavily customised) HM-Sports E36 kit. Having had a quick go in a Nissan drift car not so long ago, Rob made the impulsive decision that he needed to have one for himself.

Of course, being friends with Huxley, there was no way this car was going to hit the track without an A-Bo-Moon style rear drag wing, which is what Huxley was fabricating and fitting when I arrived. I wish he’d have had some time to remove that rear windscreen wiper while he was at it though…!

R33 GT-R wheels in “looking good on any car other than an R33 GT-R” shocker!

The interior was fairly plush too, featuring a suede Nardi steering wheel along with a through-dash roll cage. The AVCR boost controller mounted where the heater vents once lived seriously bugged me though, having been fitted there by a previous owner. Just keep the vents and stick the boost controller somewhere else!

It wasn’t long before more Nissans joined us at the workshop, with everyone keen to put in some prep work for the following day’s Drift Elite practice event.

15″ wheels don’t often find their way on to slammed S14s but Mike‘s Navan-kitted example pulls off the look brilliantly. Even the Kouki rear spoiler looks great, too. I do feel that a shotgun style exhaust would suit this look much more than a single 4″ pipe though.

Rory‘s CA18-powered multi-coloured Sileighty also rolled into the yard sporting 15″ wheels, although these aren’t as much of a rare sight on an S13.

Back when I owned my white UK 200SX I longed for the day that I’d have a wangan spoiler, 180SX rear bumper and spats fitted. Sadly, that day never came, but it was great to see this exact setup on Rory’s car, along with the URAS-style rear lights.

Tearing myself away from the cars outside, I headed into Huxley’s workshop to find him kindly fitting my new Nankang NS-2 tyres to both of my URAS front wheels. While they aren’t the grippest tyre in the world, I find them a well-balanced choice up front when running cheap tyres on the rear. They’re also pretty decent on the road too, which is important to me due to the sheer amount of daily use my C33 sees.

The next morning I took the repaired wheel to be balanced so I could chuck it back on my car and return to having a matching set of wheels all round. I must say a huge thanks to Adam from StyleCase for letting me roll on a borrowed pair of his Super Advans until I got my wheels and tyres sorted.
