With the third round of the BDC taking place this coming weekend at Teesside I thought it’d be good to take a quick look at one of my favourite cars in the series: Joe Balls’ S13.

With costs for some builds in the Semi-Pro and Pro classes spiralling way beyond the means of their drivers it’s refreshing to see such a basic car competing and still managing to hold its own.

CA18 powered, OEM bodywork, mis-match 16″ XXR and Mitsubishi Starion wheels and the necessary safety essentials inside; this is a car and driver combination that is true to the roots of the sport and Joe is proving that you don’t need a 500bhp 1JZ, 12J rear wheels and a giant rear wing to compete (not that you did anyway, but try telling some people that…).
