When you think of A-Bo-Moon, you probably think of A-Bo Satsukawa’s iconic 4-door R32. However, as you’ll probably know, A-Bo-Moon is made up of a whole team of guys and girls with their own respective 4-door Skylines, all painted in the team’s trademark blue hue. Each team member has their own distinctive style though, which was great to experience at this year’s R32-only drift day at Motorland Mikawa back in March.
This particular R32 was one of my favourites amongst the A-Bo-Moon crew. Featuring TE37SL wheels with chunky tyres, a deep front splitter, under-canards on the side skirts and that trademark drag wing, it really appealed to me on so many levels as a result of all the little details. Did you also notice the front wings in the above photo?
Or, for that matter, did you notice the window tints!? I’d never seen anything like it before and I did wonder how long I could get away with something similar on my Laurel before getting a telling off from the police.
It looked like projector headlights had also been retro-fitted into the original units which, alongside the crystal corner lights, helped to add a modern touch to what is now a 25+ year old car.
Speaking of headlights, photos of this particular car have been doing the rounds on the internet for years now as everyone tries to guess what car they’ve been taken from. The answer is a Honda Accord and, no, I’m not sure why they’ve been fitted either! It looked pretty cool though and perhaps they’re cheaper to replace than their R32 equivalents.
There were plenty of other A-Bo-Moon R32s filling the pits but these two in particular grabbed my attention. You can view them and the rest of the team’s cars in action in this video I put together of my footage from the aforementioned R32-only event.
