Some cars in the drift scene carry a legendary status: whether they’ve been hugely successful on track in terms of results or they simply represent the pinnacle of a certain style, there are a handful of cars out there that demand a certain level of respect. A-Bo Satsukawa’s 4-door R32 Skyline is one of these cars.

Having owned this very car for the last seventeen years, A-Bo certainly knows a thing or two about R32s and has stayed true to the Low Syle mantra the whole time.

The BN Sports aero and WORK VS-KF wheels are trademarks of A-Bo’s style that he has pioneered throughout his tenure as leader of the infamous A-Bo-Moon team, along with the often-imitated rear drag wing.

Shortly after I took this interior photo I was fortunate enough to be invited to ride shotgun with A-Bo during a session at the R32-only drift day at Motorland Mikawa. The usual Japanese-spec drift car essentials are all present and correct (including a dash-dodger roll cage, a plethora of gauges and stock handbrake setup), along with a pair of bucket seats and harnesses. I can tell you now that the passenger-side bucket seat mounted on fixed mounts had been installed a bit too far forward for my 6’4″ stature, as my knees made great friends with the dashboard throughout my on-track experience!

The rear windscreen features stickers from friends from around the world, along with memorabilia from past events that this R32 has taken part in. It’s humbling to see that there is a Street Track Life DRIVE HARDER sticker on there now, too.

The exterior graphics may have changed over the years but the sparkly blue paint has always remained, a trademark of the A-Bo-Moon team.

I’d like to think that, in another seventeen years time, A-Bo and his legendary R32 will still be drifting. If they are, you can bet that the Skyline will still feature that legendary sparkly blue hue.
