I’ve been wanting to drift the Teesside Autodrome National circuit ever since I watched the BDC round held on it back in 2012. Having only drifted on the smaller and slower West circuit since then, I was eager to tackle the National layout and was able to do so on Easter Monday. The day was over-subscribed but Charlie Hulme was kind enough to pass on his ticket to me due to his S13 requiring some engine work (insert CA18 related joke here).
The day was a bit hit or miss to be honest due to a number of things, including my limited experience with the car (this being my second drift day in it), my lack of familiarity with the track and my usual stubbornness of refusing to calm down my driving style so as to nail that one perfect, lairy run. No excuses though; I need to improve!
You can view a couple of laps in the on-board footage below:
Thanks to everyone that helped or hung out during the day – it made a change to be basking in the sun and enjoying drifting rather than being freezing cold and wishing you were back at home. Roll on summer. Also big thanks to the photographers who spent the day sweating it out in the middle of the track.
