Around this time a year ago Alex’s S14 rolled up at Round 1 of the BDC at Lydden Hill sporting a livery I’d doodled down as a bit of a joke, which subsequently went on to be rather well received in the paddock and across the internet as something that was seen as a step away from the norm in the UK. This year was no different, with my latest design for the car being given its track debut at Lydden Hill at the weekend. What was great to see however, was how many other drivers and teams had taken extra care with their liveries for the 2015 season, possibly as a result of the hype caused in 2014? Who knows, but here are some of my favourite designs from Round 1 of this year’s BDC.

Neil Bamford (above) had it all to play for at the event, having been given a trial promotion to the BDC as a result of winning last year’s Street class in DriftCup. James Roberts’ SR20 powered AE86 (below) had been decked out with classic tribal style vinyl, which strongly reminded me of the Uras demo cars from many years ago.

Apologies for the phone pictures here, but Wayne Curran’s and Gary Dunne’s respective 180SXs both looked awesome, with the bonnet vinyl on Wayne’s car really reminding me of Fukuda’s similarly yellow BN Sports kitted D1GP 180sx from a few years back.

In fact, all three of the Boss Motorsport cars also reminded me of the aforementioned Uras demo cars – something about tribal patterns and lurid colours!

And last but not least, Alex’s car. You can view my original hand drawn sketch for this year’s livery here that I did on a template borrowed from D-Magic.

Obligatory hard pose.
