It was time to go drifting for the first time since New Year’s Eve! Well, when I say that I mean spectating some drifting. Considering my track record at the unforgivable Buxton circuit and my crashing tendencies I didn’t fancy ruining another one of my cars, so I headed to Buxton Raceway to watch some of the lads who were driving. At least it wasn’t raining but, as always, it was freezing cold.

As far as journeys to circuits go, Buxton definitely rates well in the picturesque stakes.

Mx-5 boys. Chris Godfrey (on the left) has been driving his NB non-stop for longer than I can remember now and it clearly shows in its driving. Sporting nothing more than coilovers, cut knuckles and a welded diff, it’s a shining example of how practicing in a car without making any major changes is the best way to improve your consistency, as opposed to the usual “do a drift day, change everything, repeat” approach that is used by many.
Daniel Rose (on the right) has recently delved head first into drifting and is already making great progress in his Mazda.

Adam finished preparing his FC3S (including a respray from white to red) at around 5am in the morning. By 8am he was on the phone to me to let me know that he was on his way for an impromptu photo shoot. I’ll be posting those photos up soon.

“Cut cable ties in case of fitment-related emergency”.

Boosted Mx-5s look to the be the most fun ever. And if you crash it, at least you can move everything over to another cheap and easily available shell.

By the time it started getting cold and the rain started to drizzle it was great to see that none of the lads had crashed, died or caught fire. And Adam’s fresh paint was all still in one piece!
